Trafiq Cafe & Bakery

Bryan and I randomly walked into Trafiq: 4216 Main Street.

I was craving a good sandwich of some sort and thought I might find one in here. It looked like they run a catering business and have this storefront. They had an average selection of pastries, breads, sandwiches and coffee drinks.
We ordered a ham and cheese croissant. We waited just a few minutes for this. It was served to us warm and Mmmmm it was delicious. The croissant was better than what I expect one to taste like, flaky and buttery goodness. There was a nice pile of black forest ham and the cheese was melted on top. YUM. Bryan and I tasted a zing of spicy which was from the dijon and chipotle mayo. Very delicious and it was big enough to fill both of us.

We also ordered a slice of chocolate hazelnut cake. oooo weeee. haven't tasted something like this in a long time. The texture was light and fluffy with that "melt-in-your-mouth" effect. It was just the right amount of sweetness. Tres delicieux!

Some other menu items that looked good were a flourless chocolate cookie, chunky monkey cake, and their choices of paninis. The total bill was about $12 for the 2 items. They had a clean and fresh feeling inside. I noticed the unique light fixtures. They look like whisks!! I loved that idea.
Here are the whisk lights up-close:
Trafiq is a cute little cafe with sweet and savoury menu items and is definitely worth a visit!
Trafiq deserves a 9 out of 10 rating.

Splitz Grill

We got Splitzed!! at "A True Gourmet Burger Joint"
This was a food adventure with one of my sisters, Bryan was working hehe..
We came across this food joint just by walking on Main Street after going for a swim at Hillcrest Park Aquatic Center.

We went straight to the till and placed our order. The employee was very friendly and asked us how are day was going and had a bit of a chitchat which was pleasant, because it's rare these days! We ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Burger combo (fries and pop) also with another side of onion rings. We sat down in a booth and we would be called to pick up our order. I got called by name. The veggies were set out behind a glass as it is at Subway, and she asked me what veggies I wanted and what sauce. I chose their house Splitz Sauce and ketchup. I sat down again and was told that I'd be called again when the order was ready.
We waited for about 10 minutes, and she actually brought it right to us with a smile :) She asked if we needed ketchup, and I said yes, but figured that I could go get some from the pump by the soda fountain machine. But she went and got us a couple herself, how nice! Boy, did we enjoy our meal together!
It was super delicious! The chicken breast was sooo juicy and it was a big honkin piece too. I loved the choice of alfalfa sprouts to add to the burger, made it different. I forget what was in the Splitz sauce, but it was AMAZINGGG! The fries and onion rings were the perfect complement to the perfect burger.
Did I mention that we LOVEDDDD the burger!!! lol it was worth every penny. Here's the receipt -notice how they spelled my name haha
Yumyum, I'll be back again, but maybe this time with Bryan!

Overall, Splitz Grill deserves a 9 out 10 rating

Wok Box

Wok Box: Fresh Asian Kitchen located at Boyd St. New Westminster

Bryan and I were craving chinese food and decided to visit Wok Box. We've heard of it before, but never ventured to it. Oh my! the prices looked very steep for a fast-food like place. And we were a little turned off by the fact the the inside was pretty big and spacey with plenty of seating and there was just a pair of couples. We thought we'd at least try SOMETHING instead of just leaving empty handed. We ordered one thing and figured it'd be large enough to share. From the Stirfry menu, we chose a classic Teriyaki chicken.
Teriyaki Chicken Stirfry: classic caramelized sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce with fresh veggies and udon noodles

We took it to-go and it cost $10.49 +tax for their "regular" size. We waited about 3 minutes for the order, and when it was handed to us, we were both taken by surprise that it was one chinese "wokbox":
We were both like "$12 for this?!?!" When we opened it up at home, we realized that it actually is a good portion/serving of noodles and veggies. We weren't full from one box together, so it served as more of a snack. It was quite delicious though. The sauce had drained to the bottom of the box, but that could've been resolved by pouring onto a serving plate, but we chose to eat straight from the box. I love the idea of eating out of chinese food boxes. Adorable! There was good assortment of veggies and were cooked perfectly. The chicken meat was moist. Loved the udon noodles also.

In the end, we have mixed feelings about this place. We may or may not come back. But if you want or love the thought of experiencing eating your favourite chinese foods from boxes and chopsticks, then I'd say it'd be worth it to come here :)

Their menu also consists of other rice and noodle boxes, naan-wiches, small bites like egg rolls, samosas and pot stickers, wonton & pho soups.

Overall, we give WokBox a rating of 7 out of 10.
